Student Activities Center

The UCLA Graduate Student Resource Center is a Graduate Students Association initiative that is managed by Student Affairs. The GSRC is a resource, referral and information center for graduate students, offering programs and workshops on a variety of topics, drop-in advice and assistance, meeting and study space, and the opportunity for social interaction. The GSRC works with GSA to organize the Graduate Student Orientation and Equity, Inclusion & Diversity Graduate Welcome Day each fall. The Graduate Student Resource Center is also the home of the new Graduate Writing Center. All graduate and professional students are welcome. We are located in B11 of the Student Activities Center (formerly the Men's Gym).


Career Counseling Drop-in Hours Just For Grad Students
Spring: Tuesdays and Thursday, 11am-12noon in the GSRC

Appointments are also available M-F at the Career Center (use BruinView to make appointment).

Counselors from the UCLA Career Center come to the Graduate Student Resource Center for a drop-in hour JUST for graduate students, 11am-12noon, Thursdays, to provide quick answers to graduate students about CVs/resumes, job search strategies, information sources and more. No appointment necessary! All UCLA graduate and professional school students are also welcome to make appointments up to two weeks in advance to see a career counselor at the Career Center. Writing Tutoring and Consultation Appointments Available at the Graduate Writing Center

The Graduate Writing Center offers free writing consultation services to all enrolled UCLA graduate and professional school students. Meet with a trained and experienced graduate student writing consultant to work on writing issues ranging from organization and style to grammar and syntax. Appointments are available Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Do you ever promise yourself that you'll finish that paper, or improve your presentation skills, then don't quite get around to it? Do you have trouble setting goals…and sticking to them? Survey data has shown that trainees in the sciences who create and follow a written plan are more likely to reach their research and career goals. In this hands-on workshop we'll get you started on creating your annual Individual Development Plan (IDP) for completing projects and developing professional skills that you'll need for success. Through this process, you will use ScienceCareers.org's "myIDP" tool to help you learn principles for setting achievable goals, and strategies for ensuring that you'll follow through to success.
