Maureen Cowhey (she/her)

2023 Graduate Student Orientation Coordinator

Program:Ph.D. in Sociology

Maureen is a sociology PhD student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research interests focus on the sociology of gender, work, and stratification with an emphasis on public policy applications. Maureen received her B.A. from Scripps College in Economics and English. After graduating, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in the Division of Financial Stability. Outside of school, she enjoys making cheese, petting cows, playing with her cat, and finding the best breakfast burrito in LA.

This year, Maureen will be helping to plan and put on Graduate Student Orientation in the fall.

Fun Fact:I was on Team USA for synchronized skating.

Advice for Graduate Students:Grad school is a marathon not a sprint, pace yourself and take time for self-care.
