Moving to LA: A Wellness Toolkit

Adjusting to life as a graduate student is challenging in itself, not to mention the culture shock students may encounter when relocating. Moving to a new city at the start of a graduate program can be especially overwhelming and intimidating. By targeting three different aspects of wellness – financial, mental, and physical – this program aims to help students successfully transition to their new community so that they’re more likely to thrive at UCLA both academically and personally. ‘Moving to LA: A Wellness Toolkit’ will give students tips on how to lead a balanced lifestyle through a series of sessions where UCLA graduate students and faculty members of diverse backgrounds share their stories and strategies regarding each of these three wellness categories. Series events will give students a space to express obstacles they’ve had to overcome in transitioning to a new living and learning environment. My goal is to provide participants the opportunity to ask questions, make connections and share their own wellness strategies, all the while becoming better integrated into their new community.
